I think all of us, one way or the other, have been paying more attention to the aesthetic of our homes lately. Mainly because for the past year or so, we’ve been forced to spend more time indoors than we typically do.

And all that time spent indoors did was reminds us that comfort trips luxury any day. First, we did it with our clothes — when we switched from suits and heels to jeans, leggings, and flats. And then came the time to think about our immediate surroundings: our home.

Pre-covid, whenever I thought about decorating my home, I’d usually go for more contemporary styles. I’m a city girl, and I have always lived in the city, so it never crossed my mind to decorate the inside of my house like a farm. Usually, furniture choices will be a combination of antique pieces with modern ones made of wood or metal or a combination of both. Upholstery will be more of natural materials such as cotton, and anything else organic such as wool, canvas, and chenille.

The result is a very relaxing and inviting home, that brings a little bit of the outside to the inside.

In a way, the Modern Farmhouse décor style, honors tradition, while still being comfortable and bringing the warmth of a farmhouse style that fits into the modern-day lifestyle.
