House décor is not a topic I usually cover on this blog, but I guess you could see this post coming.

I think all of us, one way or the other, have been paying more attention to the aesthetic of our homes lately. Mainly because for the past year or so, we’ve been forced to spend more time indoors than we typically do.

And all that time spent indoors did was reminds us that comfort trips luxury any day. First, we did it with our clothes — when we switched from suits and heels to jeans, leggings, and flats. And then came the time to think about our immediate surroundings: our home.

Many people decided during covid, that they needed a comfortable and inviting environment since we were all working from home anyway.  That’s when I started to notice the Modern Farmhouse Style of decor, and it made so much sense to me.

Pre-covid, whenever I thought about decorating my home, I’d usually go for more contemporary styles. I’m a city girl, and I have always lived in the city, so it never crossed my mind to decorate the inside of my house like a farm. But recently the Modern Farmhouse theme caught my attention and made me revisit this whole idea.

If you’re not familiar with this particular style, it basically brings about inviting and comforting furniture with a mix of warm neutral tones and different textures to give it more depth, sounds good right?

Usually, furniture choices will be a combination of antique pieces with modern ones made of wood or metal or a combination of both. Upholstery will be more of natural materials such as cotton, and anything else organic such as wool, canvas, and chenille.

The result is a very relaxing and inviting home, that brings a little bit of the outside to the inside.

In a way, the Modern Farmhouse décor style, honors tradition, while still being comfortable and bringing the warmth of a farmhouse style that fits into the modern-day lifestyle.
