If you’re reading this, you are probably aware that this magical blanket by Barefoot Dreams exists. And most likely, you follow all things, Kardashian, as well.
It’s a well-established fact that the Kardashians made this blanket a trend. Any time the temperatures drop and it gets a little chilly, they always reach out to their trusted blanket for comfort. All of the sisters have been spotted using it at one time or the other on episodes of Keeping up With the Kardashians.
And since everyone and their mother seemed to have one, I felt compelled to jump on this trend as soon as I could. After all, if it’s good enough for the Kardashians is good enough for me.
But you might be asking yourself:
What is it about this blanket that makes it so special?
At first glance, you wouldn’t think much of it just by reading the description online. After all, it looks just like a regular blanket. But to truly feel the difference, you need to hold it in your hands, touch it and feel it.
The best way to describe it is that’s incredibly soft and it feels very luxurious and lightweight. The blanket is made of 100% microfiber and it’s like the perfect cozy indulgence. The size is also ideal at 54″ x 72” — not too small and not too big. It’s perfect for the couch or for the end of your bed. Also, the fact that it comes in 5 different solid colors and 8 different shades of bold prints, makes them cute and easy to match any house décor.
Now the question that is in everyone’s mind:
Is it expensive?
The honest and simple answer is, yes. The original throw blanket from the Cozy Chic collection retails at $147, and the ones with cute leopard print shades from the In the Wild collection retails at $180.
But is it worth it?
In my opinion, it’s the perfect knit throw to cuddle up on the couch on a cold night with a nice glass of wine by the fire. Could you do the same with another blanket? Certainly, but probably wouldn’t feel the same way. It also helps that it perfectly matches the décor.
You also might be wondering if this is the type of throw that sheds. I’m not going to lie, mine does shed a little. It’s not awful, but I do see a few fuzzy balls here and there. I haven’t washed mine yet, but I believe that will subside once you clean it a couple of times. And speaking of cleaning…
How do you care for a Barefoot Dreams blanket?
The instructions say to wash it in cold water. Tumble dry at low temperature and don’t use dry sheets on it. This means is easy to ruin the blanket if you clean it the wrong way. Because of that, I’m almost afraid to wash mine, so I’m tempted to dry cleaned it instead. You can also do that, as it’s the safest choice.
Now, if the price point scares you, I have good news. It’s possible to get the blanket at much less than what it costs if you do your due diligence and you’re patient. And the keyword here is patience.
I had my eye on this blanket for a long time, but I wasn’t so thrilled about the $180 price tag. So, I waited until I saw it at a major sale that Nordstrom had last year at a 30% discount. And it’s possible for you to get one the same way. You just need to wait for the right time. Last year, Nordstrom had a few flash sale events, where the blanket was discounted at 25-30% so you just need to keep your eyes peeled. But if you don’t want to wait for a sale you can also look at already discounted blankets in stores like Nordstrom Rack.
If you decide to go discount shopping, then Nordstrom Rack is your best bet. You’re not going to find the newer trendy ones like the “In the wild “collection there — which happens to be the most popular at the moment — but you will be able to find the original Cozy Chic in solid colors at a third of the price. And that alone is worth the trouble.
And if you can’t find one discounted at Nordstrom Rack (they do sell out fast) or you just don’t want to wait for another sale, there is one last resort: You can go for an inspired version instead.
I know this idea might be controversial, but there are plenty of Barefoot Dreams-inspired blankets out there. You can get a similar blanket (in look at least) for only a fraction of what a Barefoot Dream blanket costs.
Now, I cannot attest to the quality of the inspired versions as I have not had one myself. But as far as I know, at least in appearance, they seemed to nail down the look. So, if you’re willing to give this a try, you can find inspired versions at places like Amazon, Shein, Pink Lilly, and Styled Collection. All these stores have their own versions of this famous Kardashian-approved blanket.
Finally, if you’re ready to pull the trigger and you’re not shy about paying full retail price, you can find this blanket at the Barefoot Dreams Store, Nordstrom, Bloomingdales, and Dillard’s.
And if you found these tips useful, don’t forget to spread the word by sharing this post on social media.
Happy Shopping!
