When it comes to treating your dry lips, you have a few options out there. On one hand, chapsticks and lip balms, which seal in moisture working as a barrier between your lips and the environment. And then you have lip masks. The ultimate hydration treatment designed to inject your lips with moisturizing action.

Lip masks are made of powerful hydrating ingredients that will not only moisturize but also temporarily plump your lips. Think of them as a facial for your mouth if you will.

With literally hundreds if not thousands of brands to choose from, it’s hard to decide which one will do the job right and give your lips the boost they need. Of course, there’s always the alternative method: the natural approach. I shared previously a recipe for a DIY Rose Petal lip mask that can be used multiple times a week and can be just as effective. But I realize not everyone is big on DIY projects. Especially those who travel a lot or/and have a busy lifestyle.

As a beauty blogger, I’m gifted beauty products from time to time. As a consumer and beauty enthusiast, I also spend a lot of my own money trying new products. I’ll share my honest opinion with my followers and fellow bloggers only if I feel it will be truly beneficial to them, and the Korean brand Laneige Sleeping Lip Mask is one of them. And no, it was not gifted to me (I just needed to get this out of the way).

You’ve probably already heard of this brand before or maybe even try it yourself since they are so popular. If not, you might want to give it a try.

Let me start this review by saying that my lips – and skin for that matter – have always been on a drier side. This became even more of an issue since moving to Southern California many years ago. Although it’s natural for your lips to be drier in the wintertime, I noticed they’ve been drier than usual lately.

Part of it might be my matte lipstick addiction, and part might be just the drier weather in general. Maybe it’s the combination of both, who knows? Whatever the reason, I needed a little pick me up for the lips and this product truly delivered.

Let’s talk about product presentation first.

Product description

Laneige_Lip_Sleeping_Mask

The mask comes in a beautiful pink 0.7 oz (20g) jar. A small spatula is provided – which I really like for convenience. Another reason why K-beauty products are so great. They think of everything!

There is also a miniature version of this product which also comes with a small spoon. The small sample version, as expected, doesn’t last very long but it’s enough to get you hooked on this product.

The mask has a thick gel-ish texture with a very pleasant sweet berry scent and flavor.

How to use

Laneige_Lip_Sleeping_Mask

This is a sleeping mask, which means it’s supposed to work overnight. Add to your nightly beauty regimen, and when you wake up the next morning you will notice softer and plump lips. Yes, it works that fast. You can also use it during the day as a rescue cream if needed, or to prep your lips before you apply make-up.

It’s a small jar, but since you only need a small amount, it goes a long way. The mask as I mentioned previously, does have mild berry scent and flavor which doesn’t bother me, but if you’re sensitive to scents it might not work for you.

To use it, simply apply it deliberately to your lips before bed and wash it off the next morning when you wake up.

Where can I find it?

I got mine at Sephora. I believe Target and Amazon carrie it as well from time to time but I haven’t seen it at any store recently.

How much does it cost?

Important question. It all depends on where you get it from but usually, it’s around the $20 range. It’s not super cheap but it’s still affordable enough.

Are there any other scents or an unscented version of this product?

The berry version is the original version of the mask. The scent is very mild and very few people would be bothered by it. As far as I know, there isn’t an unscented version, but I know they added other scents to the line recently such as Mint Choco, Apple Lime, and Grapefruit. Those, however, are not available everywhere.

What are the main ingredients of this mask?

The main ingredients of this mask are berries, antioxidants, Vitamin C, and Hyaluronic acid.

Final Words

This mask works great after a single-use, but you can start noticing a significant difference after a couple of times. After two weeks, it’s when you get a better idea of the results. I started to notice how moist my lips were after that time.

This mask works great for chronic dry lips, but I supposed would work well even if you don’t have cracked dry lips but just want to add some hydration to your pout.
