Drugstore makeup has gone through a lot of changes over the years. In the past, drugstore brands had a bad reputation and people would only buy them as a last resort. Many people would avoid them altogether because these were perceived to be of bad quality and sometimes even harmful to your skin.

Thankfully, a lot has changed since then. Nowadays, many drugstore brands have great quality products and are much more affordable than name brand ones. Sure there are some trade-offs. For instance, you might be limited in color options and shades, but you can’t deny their convenience and affordability.

I tried many brands over the years, and here’s what I consider the best:

1. Covergirl

Covergirl is a classic drugstore brand. It’s affordable, convenient, and also the largest cruelty-free makeup brand in the US. It has many award-winning products from mascara to lips stick and foundation.

MY RECOMMENDATIONS:

2. N07

Technically, not a drugstore brand — although you’ll find it at Walgreens and Target — No7  has great quality products. I especially like their face creams, serums, and foundation. The foundation, in particular, is one of my favorites from this brand. It provides great coverage and is lightweight which means you can wear it all day and it won’t clog your pores. Granted, their products are not as affordable as other brands on this list, but the quality is amazing.

MY RECOMMENDATIONS:

3. Maybelline

Maybelline is a very popular drugstore brand and its products are highly rated. I like their lipstick and lip gloss line but my current favorite is the BB cream. It won the Good Housekeeping Seal of best color correcting cream.  The cream is a moisturizer, SPF, and sheer foundation all in one.

OTHER RECOMMENDATIONS:

4. Revlon

I feel like Revlon is such an underrated drugstore brand sometimes. Not enough magazines or blogs mention the quality of its products. Maybe because Revlon has been around for so long, and it’s not considered “trendy” anymore. Regardless, I really like their nail polish and lipstick line, not to mention the hairbrushes and tools. I’ve been a loyal customer for years and I will continue to support this brand.

MY RECOMMENDATIONS:

5. L’oreal

L’oreal has always had great products. I like their Infallible longwear line. It’s the perfect on-the-go product as it helps with last-minute touch-ups.  But most recently I’ve been obsessed with the Longwear waterproof brow gel.

OTHER PRODUCTS I RECCOMEND:

6. Elf

Elf is relatively new to the beauty scene compared to other brands, but I really like that a lot of their products are comparable to higher-end brands. You can find Elf products in many places like Target, Wal-Mart, Amazon, and well… pretty much everywhere. I also like that they have such an expansive product line. It also doesn’t hurt that the brand is so affordable.

RECOMMENDATIONS:

7. Neutrogena

Neutrogena has been a trusted name in skincare for years, so when they decided to expand their product line to makeup, there was no doubt in mind that their products would be winners. There are so many products that I like but I always keep coming back to their foundation, lip gloss, and lip balms.

I hope you like my recommendations. I’m always updating my posts and my list so if you think this was helpful, don’t forget to spread the word on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and anywhere else.
